True Storage Opens 3rd Portfolio Property in Michigan with Burton, MI ExtraSpace Completion

Burton, MI – New Hampshire based self-storage developer, True Storage opened its third property in Michigan last week. Located at 5350 Davison Rd in Burton, MI the developer transformed the former antiques mall and Harley Davidson dealership into a state-of-the-art Class-A climate controlled self-storage facility. Day-to-day operations will be managed by Extra Space Storage, while True Storage retains ownership of the property.

True storage acquired the property in 2023 and quickly began construction after receiving approvals from the town of Burton. Known for converting retail and commercial spaces into self-storage the developer has also completed projects in Flint, MI and Monroe, MI. The company also currently owns and is under construction on properties in Canton, MI and Ann Arbor, MI.

The property features 42,000+ net rentable square feet throughout 475+ climate-controlled units of varying sizes to accommodate storage needs for local businesses and individuals. Located on heavily trafficked Davison Rd, the location is ideally located next to several neighborhoods, businesses and restaurants.

Attleboro, MA – True Storage completed its 5th self-storage conversion of 2024 with the opening of their facility located at 34 Forest St, in Attleboro, MA in early April. The property was purchased by the self-storage developer in 2022 with the vision of a complete self-storage conversion of the properties 165,000 total square feet. Formerly a piece of the Texas Instruments campus in Attleboro, the property presented a unique opportunity for the Manchester, NH developer to tackle.

Located at 777 Providence St in Woonsocket, RI this completion marks the company’s 7th completed state of the art ground up self-storage build. The design build self-storage developer bought the acreage on Providence St in 2021 and received their final certificate of occupancy in mid-March. The property the facility was build on was formerly the city of Woonsocket’s Gaston A. Ayotte Jr. Baseball Field.

The opening of this site brings the True Storage Florida portfolio to 2 locations, the first location is in Bradenton, FL. Formerly a charter school, the property located at 4751 Walgreen Rd presented the self-storage developer a unique main structure to convert into a self-storage facility. The property is over 65,000 sqft and offers over 45,000 sqft of rentable storage space.

True Storage completed its first facility in Florida located 4 hours south of Jacksonville in Bradenton in June of 2022. Both projects were conversions of existing buildings which is True Storages specialty.
