The company has completed 9 developments across 5 states combining for a total of 633,216 rentable sf delivered to market. The developer focuses on conversions of retail and industrial buildings as well as ground up self-storage Buildings across the country.

Throughout the first half of the year True Storage has completed projects in the following areas: Jacksonville, FL, Tonawanda, NY, Wilbraham, MA, Fitchburg, MA, Burton, MI, Syracuse, NY, Attleboro, MA, Woonsocket, RI, New Bedford, MA. Two of these developments were ground up builds and the remainder were conversions.

The deliveries through the first half of the year included conversions of a Gander Mountain sports, former charter school, Harley Davidson Dealership, Strip Mall, industrial warehouses, and 2 historic Mill buildings. “All of our developments in 2024 have showcased our ability to transform properties across the country and transform communities we develop in” said Chris Lewis, Director of Architecture & Design for True Storage.

Management of the new store openings have been handled by 3^rd party managers, Cubesmart and Extra Space while True Storage retains ownership of the properties.

New Bedford, MA – True Storage completes its 9^th development of 2024 with the completion of their conversion located at 19 Jean St in New Bedford, MA. The 200,000sf Mill building is one of the largest conversions the developer has done to date. The construction team was able to preserve many historical elements to the building while delivering a modern interior feel.

The addition of this site to the new England dominant developer’s portfolio takes their existing Massachusetts location to three open and two under development in Wareham and Dracut. In total True storage has completed 9 self-storage facilities in MA since 2020.

Burton, MI – New Hampshire based self-storage developer, True Storage opened its third property in Michigan last week. Located at 5350 Davison Rd in Burton, MI the developer transformed the former antiques mall and Harley Davidson dealership into a state-of-the-art Class-A climate controlled self-storage facility. Day-to-day operations will be managed by Extra Space Storage, while True Storage retains ownership of the property.

True storage acquired the property in 2023 and quickly began construction after receiving approvals from the town of Burton. Known for converting retail and commercial spaces into self-storage the developer has also completed projects in Flint, MI and Monroe, MI. The company also currently owns and is under construction on properties in Canton, MI and Ann Arbor, MI.

The property features 42,000+ net rentable square feet throughout 475+ climate-controlled units of varying sizes to accommodate storage needs for local businesses and individuals. Located on heavily trafficked Davison Rd, the location is ideally located next to several neighborhoods, businesses and restaurants.

The property was purchased by the self-storage developer in 2022 with the vision of a complete self-storage conversion of the former file storage warehouse building.
